DEWAYNE SLIGHTWEIGHT

Dewayne Slightweight lives in Chicago, where he can often be found in his attic making drawings, paintings, papier-mache, sewn things, and music, all of which he bundles up yearly into book/recording/performance projects. Of these there are three so far, Your Burrow Runs Deeper Than Your Blade (2005), I Want to Know the Habits of Other Girls (2007), and The Kinship Structure of Ferns (2008) which he'll be performing on the FINGERS tour. He's performed everywhere from a mudpit in Austin Texas to the Orchard Gallery in NYC to the annual convergence of the Hemispheric Institute for Politics and Performance in Chicago. You can get the book/cd version of these projects by emailing slightweightdewayne@yahoo.com (let's trade!) or by writing to Quimby's, Golden Age, No Coast (Chicago) and Printed Matter. He's also frantically collaborated on performances with Edie Fake, including the notorious Peacecore Tour of 2005, and Rainbow Dawn at Art in General in NYC with the chairs made out of fruits and vegetables, and one at Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions where the papier-mache lesbian axes were barely dry, in 2007. Finally, he plays bass in the band Mayor Daley; their first vinyl full-length release, called Choices, will be out in the summer of 2009.
